Riel Duo
Carol Shansky, flute
Joseph d'Auguste, clarinet

Saturday, April 14, 2018
11:45am

Program:
“Highs and Lows” explores the timbral possibilities of the various members of the flute and clarinet families. Both pieces are descriptive in nature as “25.5 x 121” is a musical picture of a busy freelance-musician couple and their minimal time together and “Kaleidoscope” uses geometric shapes as a guide to the melody as well as the range and timbre of the piccolo, Eb clarinet, alto flute and bass clarinet.

25.5 x 121 for piccolo and bass clarinet – Todd Groves (b. 1970)

Kaleidoscope for various flutes and clarinets (2005) – Sy Brandon (b. 1945)

Timing: 15 minutes
