Program:
“Highs and Lows” explores the timbral possibilities of the various members of the flute and clarinet families. Both pieces are descriptive in nature as “25.5 x 121” is a musical picture of a busy freelance-musician couple and their minimal time together and “Kaleidoscope” uses geometric shapes as a guide to the melody as well as the range and timbre of the piccolo, Eb clarinet, alto flute and bass clarinet.

The Riel Duo, Carol Shansky, flute, Joseph d’Auguste, clarinet teach at Iona College and New Jersey City University. Shansky is a BM (Ithaca), MM & DMA (Boston U.) and d’Auguste holds the BM (Manhattan), MM (NJCU) & DMA (Rutgers).
