Artist Bio
Oboist Teodora Pejasinovic Proud and saxophonist Joseph M. Proud IV began performing together as the Proud Duo in early 2017. Their work together has led to performances at the 2018 International Double Reed Society Conference in Granada, Spain, the 2018 NASA Biennial conference, the 2018 International Woodwind Duo Symposium (where they were awarded first prize in the Young Artist Duo Competition), and the 2017 NACWPI National conference. Both recipients of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Alabama, Teodora and Joseph are working to commission new works for oboe and saxophone, as well as performing transcriptions of works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Poulenc, and Musgrave. Teodora Pejasinovic Proud is an oboist from Serbia, and worked with the Montenegro Symphony Orchestra before coming to the United States. She has recently performed with the Connecticut Virtuosi and the CT Lyric Opera. Joseph Proud is originally from Connecticut and has performed with a variety of different ensembles. The Proud Duo is committed to expanding their repertoire by combining their different cultural backgrounds.
