Ensemble Bio:
Dr. Gregory Dewhirst serves at Professor of Music with Tarrant County College, and Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Associate Director of the wind ensemble at Texas Wesleyan University. Prior to his appointments at TCC and Wesleyan, he served as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas.
An active performer, Dr. Dewhirst performs as a soloist and guest artist, the Northeast Orchestra in Hurst,, the Meridian Chamber Players, Tarrant County College, Texas Wesleyan Wind Ensemble, and the SAGA Saxophone Quartet.
His primary instructors have included Dr. Eric Nestler, Eugene Rousseau, James Riggs, Wayne Dorothy, Matthew Patnode and Mark Watkins. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from North Dakota State University and his Master and Doctorate of Music from the University of North Texas respectively.
Dr. Andy Wright serves as Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Woodwinds at Grayson College and maintains a studio of over 60 students in the DFW area. He received his doctorate degree in saxophone performance and a Masters of music degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas along with a Bachelors in music education from the University of Central Arkansas. He has appeared with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, the Plano Symphony Orchestra, Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, the Les Elgart Orchestra. Dr. Wright is a Yamaha Performing Artist and plays Yamaha instruments exclusively.
